Begijnhof is a hidden gem in the centre of Amsterdam. There’s a steady trickle of visitors but it remains a peaceful solace in a busy city.
In the autumn, the carpet of leaves add a warmness to the historic square and also allow a clearer view of the beautiful houses.
The Wooden House at Begijnhof (Het Houten Huis) is the black house in the corner with the pointed gable. It is one of few remaining wooden-fronted houses in Amsterdam and dates back to 1528.
Begijnhof is open daily 09:00-17:00 and entry is free.
