Begijnhof is a hidden gem in the centre of Amsterdam. There’s a steady trickle of visitors but it remains a peaceful solace in busy city.

In the autumn, the carpet of leaves add a warmness to the historic square and also allow a clearer view of the beautiful houses.
The black house (Het Houten Huis) in the corner is one of few remaining wooden-fronted houses in Amsterdam dating back to 1528.

Begijnhof is open daily 09:00-17:00 and entry is free.

The Brouwersgracht area of Amsterdam is one of my favourite spots in the city. Packed with beautiful houseboats, picturesque canal houses and quaint bridges. The area is much quieter and far less touristic than other parts of the city. This makes it an ideal place to for a relaxing walk whilst experiencing aspects of Amsterdam’s rich history. with the various types of canal house gables & plaques.
