De Kaaskelder opened in the Flower Market on the Singel in Amsterdam in 2009. The Amsterdam Flower Market (Bloemenmarkt in Dutch) is the last of the former floating markets.
De Kaaskelder (literally The Cheese Cellar) is located in the beautifully restored former VOC warehouse “D’Eendragt”.
The warehouse was built in the early seventeenth century (around 1625). What immediately stands out is the emblem with VOC-lion features golden crown and sword plus the iconic red shutters.
The store contains a large selection of cheeses together with many other treats and souvenirs from Holland.
